A different story

I meet a camera who told me about a lovely party. She was invited to a blogger party in Sitges and there she found a house really special, full of memory, experience, illusions, dreams, wisdom and mainly, enjoyment.
This camera told me that she felt really comfortable there, her objective could turn easily, looking for those faces that expressed firstly shyness and later happiness, relaxation, laughter. All things seemed to ride alone. Then, when the harmony was completely inside, it appeared in scene an amazing food cooked by an exceptional cook, who is dedicated to education but it seems she’s got other goodness too…. Brilliant, very tasty!

Besides, the camera said to me that she was held by other “collaborators” as a taller of uncanny stories or a little man who’s got a good future as photographer. So she felt really nice with all them. Finally, she discovered a roof with a nice view. She could capture from there the marvelous Sitges with different sort of light, with a sun coming down.......

Now, she only wants to say, thanks! thanks on behalf of her and me!

Difficult moments? put some poetry in your life!

Some moths ago we had to take a poem to class in order to share and reading it there. I think that it was an interesting activity, I didn’t read poetry from years and I have to confess I enjoyed a lot.

I tried Susan Polis, who is an American poet and producer of greeting cards. She was born in Peekskill, NY in 1944. A long time activist for women’s rights and antiwar causes, she initially worked as a freelance writer. In 1971, she turned here hobby of writing poetry into a commercial venture by founding (with husband Stephen Schutz) the greeting card and poster company Blue Mountain Arts.

Schutz’s poetry focuses heavily on themes of love, family, motherhood, trust and gratitude. Her poems’ simple language and unrhymed free verse give them an approachable and sincere quality. However, their predictable idiom, consisting mainly of straightforward declaration of strong emotion, has led some readers to deride them and being kitschy and cloying.

I want to post this poem because maybe it will help to cheer up who need a bit of support and courage in difficult moments. Enjoy the poem!

This life is yours
Take the power
to choose what you want to do
and do it well.
Take the power
to love what you want in life
and love it honestly.
Take the power
to walk in the forest
and be a part of nature.
Take the power
to control your own life
no one else can do it for you
nothing is too good for you
you deserve the best.
Take the power
to make your life
healthy
exciting
worthwhile
and very happy.
Take the power
To reach for your dreams.

I recommend it to you !

I saw this nice film some years ago, but still now many times I can't avoid thinking in it. Her main character tries to leave all things arranged before her death as she is known about her irreversible illness. The film is a lovely recreation about the limit of the love, suffering and respect to the life and death.

The director, Isabel Coixet creates a big work which let to Sarah Polley, Mark Ruffalo, Amanda Plummer, Scott Speedman, Leonor Watling, Deborah Harry, the actors, express feelings and huge communication without excess of words. Simply, it is an amazing film that can teach us to live of other way.

Just a thing! It is a real weepie……

Tell Me More, January 15, 2008 - The latest musical sensation from Europe, German-born singer Ayo Ogunmakin is celebrating the U.S. release of her new album, Joyful, whi
ch has already seen double-platinum success in France. Born to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother, the 27-year-old singer-songwriter — whose name means "joy" in Yoruba — has experienced her share of hardship and pain. As a youngster, Ayo was sent to foster care after seeing her mother descend into heroin addiction. She says her experiences have influenced the openness that many have come to appreciate about her music. "When I started singing about my life ... suddenly, it was my own voice," Ayo says. That voice works in a soulful and eclectic mixture of genres. "I call it regg-afro-folk," she says, referring to a mix of reggae, R&B and folk sounds. "You can't really name it. ... It's like a big mix." The mix seems to come naturally to Ayo. Her father was a '70s disc jockey, and that helped foster her appreciation for a range of artists, from Bob Marley to Donnie Hathaway to Pink Floyd. In addition to the breakout success of her first solo album, Ayo is experiencing the joys of motherhood with the birth of her son, Nile.

A BIG T-SHIRT

That madman and genius: Antoni Gaudí

Antoni Gaudí is for me the most universal Catalan architect. He was born in Reus, next to the sea and to the mountains. His origins left their prints firmly on his own development. The young Gaudí grew up in a family of artisans who imbued in him a sense of precision, as his father was inspector of weights and measurements, the faithful regulator of measurements for the Reus Town Council.

In 1878, Gaudí was qualified as an architect. Elies Rogent, director of the Barcelona College of Architecture, said at that time: "We've given our diploma to a madman or a geniuous: time will tell us which one he is".

He left us many worder as Palau Güell, Casa Calvet, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà or La Pedrera, Col.legi Teresià, Güells pavilions.... all them in Barcelona and outside Barcelona, El Capricho in Comillas, Casa de los Botines in Leon, GÜell Crypt in Santa Coloma de Cervelló... and so much and all them amaziing ......

This video talks about The Sagrada Familia Church, maybe the most emblematic piece of Gaudí. Enjoy the video !

Our health and the mobiles phone

I firmly believed that there is no link between use of mobile phones and any adverse human health effect but after see this video I have made a decision, use my mobile phone with more moderation....... Enjoy the video and be surpresed with the BBC news below.

The impact that mobile phones have on health is unclear. Some scientific studies have linked use of mobiles to headaches, memory loss and cancer, while the industry claims that they are perfectly safe.

A government-funded committee headed by scientist Sir William Stewart concluded that while there was no direct evidence of a health risk from using mobiles, more research was needed to prove their safety.

Now the government is unveiling a £7.4m research project to try to uncover the truth. BBC News.

The Earth Fair

Is it possible eating of a health way?. Yes, it is. But how much cost it ?. Nowadays, expensive, really expensive, but many associations and cooperatives are working in order to change that.

Last week it was the Earth Party in Barcelona, hundred of people walking around the fair and learning why it is so necessary learning a best way of feeding themselves and getting a best sustainable lifestyles.

This event is promoting the agroecological market, given a good way to fight against aggressive climate change is to buy garden produce directly, cultivated on our land, it is healthy, natural and has no chemical additives.

The fair included an agroecological market with vegeables and food that will be directly marketed by their producers, who make up pat of the Slow Food movement.

We could know the concept of ecological basket which consist in to buy weekly fruits and vegetables of the season but if you can not they bring you the basket home you can get to their cooperative and buy the amount you want to.

I found it really interesting, so I hope you can attend next time!

Saint George Day in Catalonia

Sometimes you have meditated about why Saint George day is so important in Catalonia?. Simply it has become a symbol of identity for the catalans maybe such as 11th September.

Hard to understand for those who have never experienced it, Saint George's Day is a popular festive day when book and rose stalls, and, above all, floods of people, take over the streets of all Catalan towns and villages. The celebration could not be simpler: the ritual consists of going for a walk and buying a rose, a book or both to give to loved ones, family members and friends. Although it is not a public holiday, the day and the essential walk fill the streets and squares, making it a unique national festival celebrated on a working day.

This year I was lucky because I could take holiday this so special day and enjoyed the Ramblas and all activities arround the city. Here some pictures I toke of the city.
I hope you like them !
